Scott Malo is a producer for Human Head Studios. He has worn many hats in several different industries throughout his professional career. His past roles include digital artist, creative director, and product development director, among others. Scott says if he won the lottery, he would probably open a 3D animation/video game studio. As a developer, Scott enjoys the iterative process of turning concepts into tangible results. In his current role producing Rune, he tries to give clear focus to the team and solve problems wherever possible - besides that, he likes to stay out of the way and let everyone work their magic. Scott’s favorite part of Human Head is the people. When he isn’t mining Redmine, Scott likes to watch movies, play games, and animate.
Advice for Aspiring Producers:
“As a producer, it’s important to have a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of the process, in order to best allocate your team’s resources and time. First you have to find the thing that you love to do. It’s easier to enter the industry as an artist or programmer than to enter as a producer. Find the right role for you and get some experience making a game with a team. Immerse yourself in the projects and try to understand the process as a whole.”
