Ian is one of our newest gameplay programmers. He was inspired to begin making games due to his love of immersive RPGs, and wanted to make virtual worlds of his own. It was when he took a programming class in his senior year of high school that he realized this may be a potential career path for him, and pursued a degree in software engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. While studying, he joined a game development club and has been making games ever since! His favorite part of working at the studio is how much he has in common with his coworkers - he enjoys being surrounded by passionate people who love games as much as he does. When he’s not coding, you can find Ian reading, running, or playing board games with his friends.

Advice for Aspiring Programmers:

“Just try it out! There are 48 hour ‘Ludum Dare’ game jams that are great experience. They give you an idea of what it takes to make a game. Also, if you think you might be qualified for a job in games, just go for it! Don’t put it off until ‘one day,’ because ‘one day’ won’t happen unless you make it happen.”

Three Games that Everyone Should Play:

1. Fallout: New Vegas
2. Legend of Zelda: Windwaker
3. Assassin’s Creed
