A crisp chill is in the Autumn air, signaling the coming of Halloween. There are countless ways to celebrate the season, from apple picking to hayrides - but have you considered picking up and playing a few of our scarier titles?
There are horror elements in many of our games, even those that lie outside the more traditional horror genre, like Prey or Rune. Being abducted by bloodthirsty aliens is far from comforting, and Rune is crawling with undead warriors. Besides, what could be more terrifying than tearing off someone’s arm and bludgeoning them to death with it? We don’t shy away from scary. There are, however, a few games that we’ve worked on that are entirely centralized around things that go bump in the night.

“Blair Witch Volume II: The Legend of Coffin Rock” is perfect for a cold October evening spent alone with your cat. You’ll play as Lieutenant Robert MacNichol, a civil war soldier who has been left for dead. Although he has amnesia, Robert’s hallucinations and flashbacks weave a terrifying tale of the paranormal that will answer what events in his past led up to him being mortally wounded. It has everything: ghosts, witches, mysterious effigies, creepy little girls - we won’t spoil it for you, but there’s definitely something amiss at Coffin Rock. We think that both fans of the Blair Witch franchise and newcomers will find plenty to love about this spooky installment.

If you prefer jumpscares on-the-go, we recommend you check out “Lost Within,” our horror title for mobile. It’s just another day on the job for Deputy Pearson, as he sweeps the Weatherby Insane Asylum for rowdy teenagers and stragglers the night before its scheduled demolition. Of course, this abandoned building isn’t as innocent as it might seem - isn’t that always the case with these places? You can explore the asylum’s dark and mysterious history through this terrifying tap-and-go adventure. We’re proud to say Lost Within was named one of the best games in the “App Store Best of 2015,” so we really think you’ll like it. For the complete experience, however, we recommend breaking into your local insane asylum before playing.
Between the abundance of decorative gourds and adorable trick or treaters, there’s plenty to love about autumn. But if you’re looking to give yourself the creeps this Halloween, check out some of our scariest games! Thanks for reading, and whatever you do - don’t look behind you.
